The first phone based on the Google Android operating system was announced this morning. The phone is made by Taiwanese manufacturer HTC and is dubbed the G1. Catchy, no? No? It sports a touchscreen UI akin to the Apple iPhone. Also like the iPhone, Google's new OS is likely to be a major platform for 3rd party software development. Unfortunately, the similarity seems to end there.
